The Jo Fensham Yacht Furniture Design Prize 2026

The Jo Fensham Yacht Furniture Design Prize 2026 is a new cross-disciplinary design prize exploring the future of freestanding outdoor furniture for the yacht environment. Developed in collaboration with CIFA, the Prize brings together architecture, design, craftsmanship, and life at sea, inviting Cape Town-based designers to respond to a uniquely local brief rooted in marine innovation, lifestyle, and place.
Open to professionals, candidates, and students in architecture, interior design, and industrial and product design, the competition invites entrants to design a coherent family of three pieces: a dining chair, a two-seater sofa, and a coffee table. The brief calls for work that is beautiful, comfortable, functional, and distinctly connected to Cape Town, while responding to the realities of outdoor living on board a yacht.
Registration opens on 4 June 2026 at 19h00 and closes on 7 July 2026 at 17h00. Final competition entries must be submitted by 12h00 noon on 30 September 2026.
